Unit 6 Blog

Hello everyone,

Well as I post before I was not a fan of the Love Kindness exercise but I'm getting more comfortable with it and have been able to settle my mind a little bit more. I found it easier to get rid of the cluttered thought, feelings, and images that I was having trouble controlling before.  I'm doing well with the positive thoughts but still a little trouble when it comes to focusing that Love Kindness on the thoughts that concern the negative people in my past. I'll keep working on it! The integral Assessment showed me how I need to improve or stay the same when it comes to lifestyle and behavior.

I have discovered that there are aspects that I need to work on in order to improve my overall life. I need to learn how to let negative things go in order to reduce the amount of stress that " I " burden myself with. Put forgiveness in my heart and learn to hold my head up high and move forward. I need to give myself credit for being a good mother and solely carrying the head of household responsibilities. Emotionally I need to learn to forgive myself for the mistakes that I have made along the way. I do realize that I have no control over others and what they do but I do have control over how I react.

In all I am a good person and I always try to do things for others even though I keep getting burned. I am organized when it comes to finances and things. I need to take care of my physical person more because I let myself get run down and have a bad diet. I do know that my emotional aspect of life need to be improved before I try to improve my physical life because I have to get into the right frame of mind to implement a plan to work on my physical life. I do know that it goes both ways that if I improve by dieting and exercising it can release chemicals to my brain to improve my mental health as well. I will make a shopping list of good foods to get at the store and try not to eat after 9pm. I will start to walk our dog, Bailey at least three times a week.  I'll keep on pushing forward. Have a great week everyone!

  1. Hi Marci,

A well thought out post. I read your post and see your wheels turning I think in a good way. You have your families best interest in mind. I see you and your family pictures and see a loving kindness for each other so rest in knowing your doing the right things for them. I like your thoughts on diet and exercise improvement. Walking the dog is a great place to start back to being more active. I’m guessing that your kids might enjoy walking the dog also, school work and time allowing.

It is a great reward to do for others but sometimes hard when little is done for you. I say stay the course has blessing are sometimes right around the corner. I well try to do like you and help others when I can. When your helping others I’m guessing that you enjoy the joy of giving of your efforts or time.

Since I’m a certified personal trainer I offer the free advice of starting small, baby steps, and then once you get walking again you can always add time or more intensity after your body has adapted.

All the gurus I read talk of the power of forgiveness so I’m guessing there is something there so like you I well give a good attempt at this. Thanks for getting your post done so that I had another person to chat with. Your discussion posts have been great, very open so I give you props for sharing with the class how you think and feel. I think your a good person and I enjoy seeing your responses so thanks again and have a great week.

  2. I feel positive thoughts are easy as well. Sometimes my positive thoughts are what is cluttering my mind during these assignments. Frequently, my cluttered thoughts consist of what else do I need to do? What am I going to do after this exercise? Am I going to take a quiz, write a paper, do a discussion post? These are thoughts often "cluttering" my mind and controlling my thoughts.

I think we all have aspects in our lives that we need to work on. Especially us women! Many of us put so much pressure on ourselves to be perfect for everyone else, we are not perfect for ourselves.
By the way, setting a goal to walk the dog is a great idea :) because he/she will be so happy and grateful you are taking time to spend with him/her. I NEED to do the same! I have two dogs and one of them really enjoys walks, her walks have diminished because of our other dog who does not enjoy them as much. We can't take one and not the other, so frequently we just leave both of them at home.
